Viernes - Swimmer's Ear

Florida's Viernes believe they sound "pretty and dark" - and they couldn't have said it any better. Swimmer's Ear features dark synths and pretty psychedelic sounds, feeling surreptitious - with a welcomely summery underlay.

Vierne's debut LP Sinister Devices will be available June 8th via Kanine Records.

Neon Indian - Sleep Paralysist

From creating mixes in his bedroom, to now mixing and mastering in the Brooklyn studio of Grizzly Bear' Chris Taylor. Sleep Paralysist comes as Palamo's first post-Psychic Chasms track, released via Green Label Sound.

Still following the hypnagogic-psych-pop feel Neon Indian is infamous for, Sleep Paralysist takes you back to wherever you wanted to be in the 1970's - whether you were born or not.

The Ruby Suns - Fight Softly

The Ruby Suns hail from the shores of Auckland, New Zealand, and not only that, they have a little Californian in them too. The band have been together since 2004, after vocalist Ryan McPhun imported himself from across the Pacific to play in renowned New Zealand bands The Brunettes and The Tokey Tones. McPhun soon brought together The Ruby Suns, releasing a self-titled debut LP in 2005, soon followed by the LP 'Sea Lion' in 2007 and now 2010's 'Fight Softly.'

Picking up their sound, and experimenting more with Fight Softly, McPhun has cited a more influential dream-pop sound with an unequivocal psychedelic feel. Although more unique and somewhat disparate from their previous releases, the band has not disowned their original sound completely on Fight Softly.

The band is currently on tour throughout New Zealand in support of the Fight Softly with Signer, and will soon be touring North America with chill-wave epitomist Toro y Moi March through April, with a small European tour to follow in May. Previous tours have included dates with The Dodos and label mates The Shins.

Fight Softly is available now in New Zealand via Lil' Chief Records and will be released in Europe on March 1st and North America on March 2nd via Sub Pop.

The Morning Benders - Big Echo

The Morning Benders new release first came to our attention via Yours Truly, who recorded and posted the stunning live clip of the band performing 'Excuses' at Different Fur Studios. Excuses is the first track from the bands new LP 'Big Echo' - due out in the US on March 9th via Rough Trade Records.

Recorded in San Franciso, CA and mixed in Brooklyn, NY, Big Echo comes two years after the bands debut LP release 'Talking Through Tin Cans.'

Big Echo's ten tracks go on a spiel of soothing vocals, non-synthetic harmonies and catchy undertones. The album introduces listeners to a multitude of instruments they may have not been previously familiar with on preliminary releases from the band.

You can catch The Morning Benders on their headline tour of North America this coming March and April.
